Scum & Destiny 3

Here's the hot garbage that TANK rolled with at the Silver Sun Games Renewed Prime 2023. It is a rework of the deck he went 4-1 with at the previous Silver Sun Renewed Prime in 2022, but this version did not land him in the #1 seed in Swiss like the previous version did.

Last year the team was this version of Dooku but with Rukh and Path to Mastery. The idea being to guardian with Rukh for the Dooku ping and then resolve a Rukh die showing damage with +1 for removing a die. Load them up with some die removal upgrades (just like the ones here) and run the rest of the deck for die mitigation. It worked quite well, in fact, until it didn't.

In the first round of the top 4 cut, going up against Casero and the "Bro Love" deck, TANK simply did not pull any upgrades needed to mess with the dice in order to both stay alive and deal damage. Rukh became very good at not rolling damage or hitting the pay side when there were no resources left to spare. Have 2 elite character, each with a pay side, on a typically non-ramping deck, can really put you in a touch spot.

This time around the idea was to pimg with both Dooku and Aphra all the while hopig to hit some good shield sides. The addition of doungrades and MSE Droids along with C-21 pinging away and playing yellow events from the discard pile really brought this deck to a new level. Aphra brought in 2 more 8D8s and 4 MSE Droids, that's a lot of dice to turn and deal damage with. Hence the name "King of the Ping"!

Right out of the gate though, this deck faced off against "Loodle", piloted by KingGrouber (the 1st loss TANK took at the Grand Championships at GenCon 2023). It wasn't an impossible match up though, but just like the last time Dooku faced KingGrouber, he did not draw any upgrades, like none at all. Who does that?! Also, Dooku refused to roll anything but resources. A deck to was dialed in for better economy (all the events are zero cost) was now sitting on a big pile of cash and no damage showing. Ugh! You can watch that trainwreck of a match here...

After that loss, that would be the last match TANK would play on live stream for the rest of the Swiss rounds. He went 3-2 on the day, Which is not too, too bad, the only other loss being to Echo3ofClubs running eDryden Vos/eQi'Ra (who was totally on the ropes til back-to-back Dens of Theives made an appearance). But when the smoke cleared and extended strength of schedule prevailed, this 3-2 record was not one of the two that made the top six for the wild card round. (cue sad trombone).

Probably shoulda stuck with the Sick Burn deck, but that's a story for another time. Until then, remember, the Scum will be with you. Always.
