FlatHead 1

Two days before the Toronto Prime, I had to decide on a deck to play. Last time I played any Star Wars Destiny was 6 months ago at the last Toronto event. Going through the recent popular decklists on ARH database to get some ideas, I came across echo3ofclubs deck, https://db.swdrenewedhope.com/decklist/view/1380/echo3ofclubs-echobasethursdaynightchampion-4-0-1.0, which I used as a base and went from there. I picked this deck because I've traditionally played support heavy decks and Tusken Camp is awesome. Even with some bad rolls, you can pull off plays to help continue the momentum. Underworld and Black Stall Station were probably the MVPs for all my games.

Sorry if the details of round reports are incorrect. Everything below is based off of memory.

Round 1 vs Son Daughter Win I played Dave in the last Toronto Prime and lost to this deck. I think I was more familiar this time around and was able to pull out the win. I won the roll off and picked his battlefield for the shields. I was able to get Qi'ra resource generation going each round, allowing me to build up a number of supports. I focused on Son first and was able to take him down the turn after he got his third character die. Qi'ra took a lot of damage early but was able to hold out thanks to Den of Thieves for an extra round. In the last round, Dryden was low on health, Dave claimed and I needed 11 damage to take out Daughter. I needed it to be done this round because I don't think I would have survived at the start of the next round. Fortunately, I rolled Dryden's focus side which helped line up his other character die and a Tusken die, then finished it up with Everyone Profits.

Round 2 vs Vader Palpatine Win The second round was against Ryan who played Vader Palpatine. Vader looks pretty scary if he rolls hot. I won battlefield choice and took the shields. Unfortunately, Ryan's Vader rolled terribly even with rerolls. I was able to take out Vader before his Rise Agains popped off.

Round 3 vs Asajj Bossk Loss The third round was against Ben who would make it to the finals. I won the battlefield choice and I chose my battlefield as Ben had Jabba's Place. Not sure if I should have taken the shields instead. I wasn't able to get Qi'ra's resource generation happening as Ben was able to skillfully control my dice. Also, getting two Dead or Alives on Dryden round 1 and 2 did not help my cause. I wasn't able to take down any of his characters and ultimately lost this one.

Round 4 vs Leia Padme Win The fourth round was against Chad, who I think was running a mill deck. I won battlefield choice and picked my battlefield, Chad was running Command Center. I was able to use Qi'ra's Power Action to prevent Chad from using Leia's Power Action. I was also not too worried about damaging myself to trigger Qi'ra and Dryden's abilities. Most of the milling came from Padme's special, I think I had about one third to half my deck by the time the game ended. I took out Padme first before she was able to get a free Diplomatic Immunity and finished Leia with a Fighting Dirty for 7 damage.

Top Cut Semi Finals vs Luke Yaddle Loss My semi-finals match was against Matt who would later win the event. My strategy was to focus on taking out Yaddle first, hopefully preventing the special die chaining early and preventing Luke from moving his abilities. With all the upgrades in Matt's deck, Infamy was one of the MVPs for this match up. I was able to pull off 6 indirect damage in game 2 and 3. Game 1, I was able to take out Yaddle quickly but unable to stop Luke and the Temple Guards. Game 2 was a long slug fest, I kept eating through the shields from Artaru Mastery and Den of Thieves kept me alive. I took out Yaddle first and built out a sizeable board state of supports. Game 3, I started on Yaddle, but with Artaru Mastery he was consistently generating shields to the point where I was doing very little damage. Switched focus to Luke and he was eventually taken out due to Infamy. Unfortunately, did not have the chance to get through the shields with Dauntless and Projectile Rifle. All three games were very close.
